Alabama Buddhist Vihara

Alabama Buddhist Vihara is a Theravada Buddhist Temple located in Alabama. The temple offers various activities for the laity, including observing sil or the eight precepts on Poya or full moon days. The purpose of these activities is to retreat from daily life and train the mind for spiritual development and mindfulness. The day at the temple is spent learning the dhamma, meditating, reciting gatha, offering and partaking in dana, and engaging in dhamma discussions. Anapanasati, or mindfulness of the breath, is also practiced.
